Craig
Shaman is in his second season with DePaul basketball,
serving as the Video Coordinator.
Shaman brings over 15 years of coaching experience to
the Blue Demons and comes to DePaul after three years as
an assistant coach at Chicago State. His duties with the
Cougars included on the floor coaching in games and
practices, coordinating the day-to-day activities of the
program, scouting and game preparation, recruiting,
academic monitoring, compliance, and more. Shaman’s
tenure saw the program achieve a level of success it had
not seen in over 20 years-advancing as far as the
championship game of the Mid-Con Conference in 2006.
Prior to joining the staff at Chicago State, Shaman
experienced the world of pro basketball, working two
years in the Continental Basketball Association as the
Assistant Coach of the Rockford Lightning in the 2002-03
season. The Lightning won the American Conference title
with a league-best record of 32-16, and actually
averaged 129 points per game. From Rockford, Shaman
moved on to the Gary Steelheads and a front office
position during the 2003-04 season.
Shaman served as the Athletics Director and Head
Basketball Coach at Kendall College in Evanston, Ill.
where he initiated the NAIA athletic program at the
school, forming a department with eight sports and over
75 student-athletes. The department experienced
tremendous growth and success in Shaman’s tenure and the
men’s basketball program won two conference
championships.
The initial portion of Shaman’s career was spent as
Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Oakton Community
College in Des Plaines, Ill. Shaman holds a Master’s
Degree in Education from Loyola-Chicago and a Bachelor’s
Degree from Illinois. |
